Where has 2014 gone? Here I am posting the last workshop information for 2014!!

If you’ve been meaning to get involved in something creative, here’s your chance. Don’t let it become your New Year’s resolution – again!

So – let’s see what’s on offer…….

We start officially with this workshop from the amazing blogger Jo Castro (look at her Zigazag blog for example)

Monday September 8th 9.30 to 12.30

What is a blog? And why do you need one? With Jo Castro
Personal blogs, business blogs, hobby blogs – it seems that today everyone has a blog. Why do you need one for a small business and how can a blog improve your business if you’re an artist or entrepreneur? Come along and learn about the way you can use a blog to promote yourself and your business, and look at the options available for setting up a free blog. Power Point Presentation.

Digital Photography for Beginners with Jill Harrison
Learn basic photography techniques & guidelines for composing better images.
Workshop will be both theory and practical.
Requirements – your camera & camera manual.
Fees $125

Write a Successful Press Release with Jo Castro
In a competitive market where editorial space is at a premium, writing a press or media release that has a chance of being published, or picked up by a journalist as a story to be pursued, is not easy. Learn the ins and outs of providing information about your business which will make your press release stand out above the crowd. In this 3 hour, hands on workshop with exercises, you’ll learn:-
What to include in your press release
How to write a press release in the pyramid style
The difference between news, advertisements and media releases.

Create an Art Memorabilia book – Fragments of Time’ with Jacky McFarlane 

Preserve your memories in this little journal approximately 10 x 13 cm and about. 8 cm thick
This gorgeous little journal is self standing and combines soft vintage or upholstery fabrics in a concertina format.
You can make it into a little storage space for your little treasures such as old buttons, scraps of old lace, charms etc or you can use it to display your personal artistic abilitieswith lots of layering to create texture. Some jewellery techniques are included in the workshop.

Saturday . October 18th 9 to 4 (October 19th if there is the demand from the Saturday workshop) 
Beginners’Watercolour Workshop – Neville Peterkin
How to achieve a flat wash; all about watercolour brushes, paper, paints& palettes,
Learn how to stretch watercolour paper,
Manipulation of lines and edges, soft and hard edges, lines, textures,warm and cool colours;
How to achieve a graded wash; multiple washes
How to apply colour glazes to manipulate colours
All materials supplied
Fees : $180
Maximum 8 people, minimum 4 people

Saturday November 1st 9-4(November 2nd if there is demand from the Saturday group)
Developing Watercolours with Neville Peterkin
Review the fundamentals of watercolour painting – the flat and graded washes & edge manipulation techniques. Develop a colour palette. Simplifying a subject. Simplicity, spontaneity, subtlety & sensitivity.
Learn & practice wet into wet techniques applicable to the subject. Complete drawing & first stages of your picture.
No materials supplied
Fees: $100 for full day workshop

And who could resist joining this workshop? (As I write, the workshop is full. however, things can change so I have a reserve list going)

Friday November 7th 9 to 4 (First time offered – so sorry, no photos)
Mixed Media on Paper with Jenni Doherty
Prerequisites – very basic art play skills +an ability to get dirty
Bring out stuff for making art, ink, drawing things, paint,brushes,fabric,glue, pics, papers etc.
2 sheets of 600gm watercolour paper to create on.
Rice paper or any interesting paper to play on.
The best outcome for the day will be a new confidence & understanding of materials
& hopefully two pieces to finish at a later date & have you well on the way to a messier life!

Waxes all set up ready for an exciting session of encaustic art

Introduction to Encaustic Art with Colin Pratt
Session1:  9.30-12.00     Introduction to Encaustic art – the application of wax using a range of techniques and equipment. 
Session 2: 1.00 – 3.30

Fees:  $150 for full day workshop (or $80 for  morning session only)

 Special Effects  in Encaustic art with Colin Pratt

    (encaustic experience needed)                 

Effects include working with heat guns and irons, stencils, image transfers, and using shellac.

All materials supplied.

Miniature Watercolours –Christmas Theme with Marguerite Aberle 

Paint miniature watercolours with a Christmas theme to either make beautiful cards.

Perfect Christmas presents. All materials supplied.
